Operation CodeHer is a go. We are on a mission to find the perls in a world of pythons.

You may have seen that we are on a hiring spree.

We’ve been scouring the good ole U.S. of A looking for talented software engineers for our GoodLooking Cloud business.

And one thing has become abundantly clear - there just aren’t enough female coders in the world.

That fact, in itself, is not a new revelation.

If you’ve ever worked at a tech company, you’ve probably noticed that the ratio of anime breasts to real breasts is about 100 to 2.

We’ve been bemoaning the dearth of female coders for a long time.

And it’s not just us.

Even people on Quora are asking about it. (Yes, that’s a joke; the people on Quora ask about everything…literally everything.)

The popular reason given is that “on average, women tend to prefer people over machines.”

Fair enough.

But we didn’t ask “why aren’t there more woman mechanics?”

We asked about software engineers.

The real problem here is that software engineering shouldn’t be defined as a “machine heavy” skill set.

Is it engineering? Sure.

But, it’s also poetry.

Coding is a language. It’s an art.

When done right, software engineering is closer to writing a sonnet than it is to tuning an engine.

We need software that speaks to us.

We need software that stirs our emotions.

We need software that romances us into believing we can work better, work faster, work smarter, work more beautifully.

And by doing so, we can heal the world.

And to do that, we need people who, on average, “prefer people over machines.”

We need more female coders.

Help us find them.

If you are one of them, we’re recruiting poets.
